I got 5 million .....

I got 5 million dollars … What to do next???

Let me start with a little background about the money I am talking about.

In the last week of year 2008 I was travelling in a bus from my aunt’s place near coorg to Mysore. There were very few people in the bus and it was moving in a small road inside a forest. When I was watching through the window, I could see lot of trees in the hilly region and some animals along the road side and it was really a pleasant experience for a person who lives in a very busy and congested city, Bangalore.

Suddenly after some time, I saw a flash of light on the window screen which appeared like a light from something special from the space. But it was some reflection of light from some other passing by vehicle. This spurred up a thought in my mind. What if the light was from a real space craft from other planet and I was witnessing some sort of space ship. As I was having a camera, I would have taken some snaps and videos of the space ship.

As my thoughts went on, I thought of selling the photographs and videos to some news channel. During these days of competitive media, I could get a very high price for the unique photos I have taken and this would give me lot of money. So, I thought of selling these to some foreign media for a whooping 5 million dollars, of course after severe negotiations and bargaining with many others. So, here now I got money, and what to do with that next ??? A big question……

So, I started converting the money into Indian rupees and it went up to 200 million rupees .. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…. After paying up all taxes and charges, I ended up with some 140 million rupees … Still a very huge amount in my pocket … Yes. Yes... Pocket is not enough …. I Know

Now time to spend my money …. What to do with it??

First I thought of investing this money in market... get some huge returns and double the money I got … Then thought for a second... Wait … In these market conditions, I would loose most of it if goes bad … So decided to drop this idea.

Later, a new idea came in. Let me buy some property which gives a good return while I can sit and enjoy its returns throughout my life time and fulfil my dreams of visiting as many countries as possible. But…. Hold on …. Even this can make me loose money as this is also not a safe option. So what to do next ?? Very confused.

So, decided to put the money in bank and enjoy the safe returns from it and invest the money I got from it as well as spend them to fulfil my dreams…. Feels very good.

In the mean time, of topic, I was thinking what will happen to people around me, how will they react??? I guess some of them will feel happy for me …. Some will buy a camera and roam around in forest to find similar opportunities …. Some will blame their fate not to get this type of opportunity … Some will say the money I got is by fluke and they are not hard earned … Some will say – ‘no big deal’ .. Some will not care … Some will … Some will ….

What will happen with my family … I will have very less time to spend with them, I may need to hire some one to look after them … Even I may not have time to spend with my doggie …. Is it all worth it ?????????

Hold on … Where am I now ?? I am still in the same bus .. no space ship .. no photos .. no money .. Huhhhh.

Then all these seemed to be hypothetical and impossible to happen. As the bus went passed the forest, I started thinking again. This time, a more realistic option.

Why not make this unrealistic story or thinking as a blog. I started thinking on writing a blog about this whole episode. This blog would become so popular that daily I would get thousands of hits. This would encourage me write some more blogs and I would become a professional blogger.

One fine day … A publisher comes in and says he wants rights to publish all my blogs as a book and he will be ready to pay me lot of money … An this happens to be 5 million dollars again ... Here the story begins again … What to do with that money …… Invest in markets ??? …. Invest in property ??? ….. Put it in bank ?????...... World trip … Buy a hotel ??? …. Beeep beeeeeeeeeeeeep … Honk….Honkkkkkkkkkk… Beeeeeeeeep ….. What the heck ???? I felt some one pushing me and saying something … “ vinu eddelo … mysore Bantu …. ( Vinu get up …. We reached mysore” … Huhhhhhhhhhhhhh. When I opened my eyes and looked around , I could see buildings, vehicles, people people and lots of people, noise … pollution …. And felt some one saying “ Welcome to concrete Jungle dude”.

After all these... There was one question that was not completely answered …

“I got 5 million … What to do next??”

There are no roads without a Road Block

Yes .. The title may be little bit hazy.. but I would like to start of this post by thanking all the readers of this blog who posted comments.

There was a particular comment to my previous blog asking me what i have done to change this world.
My answer to that particular friend is "At least i have started writing a Blog" which itself indicated that i have some care about the society around me which lot of people don't have.

Now I have to write something related to the title...

We have always come across a situation where after seeing a motivational movie or reading something, we start thinking about changing ourselves or doing something different. But in most cases we end up doing nothing because of fear of failure.

I know none of us ( or most of us ) are ready to leave our secure , constant income job to try something different in life which is more risky and you are not sure about the success rate of that. This requires lot of courage and heavy backing from our people close to us which often does not happen. If you go to your parents or friends and say i am leaving my job and will try a new thing , they will definitely laugh at you , think you are mad to leave a secure job and in most cases will discourage you. This will make us think a zillion times before attempting to do that and we end up not doing anything different.

If you see people who attained a great success starting from no where, they would have definitely failed in something or the other. In spite of all these, they were brave enough to take risk in their life and finally succeeded. But this does not deny the fact that there are lot of people who had never seen success in their life. What is more important is that, "Its better to have tried and failed than never tried because of fear of failure."

So, we should always go ahead with trying new things in life .. Lets give it a shot guys .. Success is only a relative word and you can never define what "Success" or "Failure" means which can be accepted by the majority.

Until next time ..
With another writing of no meaning to lot of people

The Change

We always see people talking about things they would like to see changed in the world. But we rarely hear them saying what they have done from their side. What we fail to realize is that the change should start from us.

Think about the environment. If I took a poll of any large group of people and ask if they care about the water supply and would they like to see better global care of water, most would say yes. If I ask if they leave the water running while they brush their teeth, wash the car twice a week or take long showers regularly, most would say yes.
It is as if we think there is going to be this global magical event that will create the changes we want to see, while we continue to live our lives as we always have. We also tend to ignore what is happening around the world as long as our own interests aren’t involved.
This week think about the actions you take and multiply them times a million; or even better, one hundred million. If you take your own bag to the supermarket, that’s 100 million plastic or paper bags not used that day. If you do, that is 100 million bags used that day. If you are nice to other people that is 100 million people being nice to other people around the world. One of those other people might be kind to someone you really care about that lives somewhere else.
Think about the reverse, if you are short tempered and drive in an aggressive manner and cut people off, then that’s 100 million people driving like that. Sounds dangerous. And maybe one of those 100 million cuts off someone you love and they get into an accident.
Our individual behavior adds up to a global condition. We need to develop a global conscious and realize that each of us is important, our behavior matters. Don’t expect change to happen without you. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
Don’t live with your eyes closed, either to what is happening in the world, or about your own behavior. Open your eyes and realize that each of us is powerful and what we do has an effect of positive change both in the world and over our individual lives.
This week be powerful and start changing the world by the actions you take. If you take action today in your life you are changing the world today. Don’t put it off, waiting for some magical future change to take place.
Together we are changing the world!

Elections in Karnataka

Here it comes again .. The time of elections in Karnataka..

It is almost certain that the state assemble elections in Karnataka will be held in last week of may 2008 and official announcement about this is expected within a weeks time.

After allmost 6 months of Governers rule, the people of karnataka is hoping for a fair election and a stable government. People here are fed up with the dirty politics played by the filthy politicians who are playing with the taxpayers money. This elections should be a clear decider which throws away the people who doesnot care about the common people.

So, hope a good government comes to power in karnataka an stays in for a complete five years term.

Cheers

Pay Hike for Babus - Sixth pay commission report

Good news for our hardworking babus .. There will be hike in their salaries as per the recommendations of 6th pay commissions (election) report.. oops .. After conquering farmers with the farm loan wavier, UPA is ready for its next big election campaign ( using tax payers money though) with a package for Govt Employees.

The Sixth Pay Commission headed by justice B N Srikrishna today submitted its recommendations to Finance minister P Chidambaram this morning at the North Block.

Commission officials were tight lipped about the recommendations but added that the report had "right to reconcile the needs of employees with the overall fiscal situations".

According to sources, the finance ministry will now vet the recommendations before proposing them for a final decision by the government.

Source added that Chidambaram is likely to discuss the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well.

Pay Commission was set in October 2006 and is widely expected to suggest an over 30% increase in salaries of 4.5 million central government employees.

The fifth pay commission recommendations sent many states into so called depression which took them upto 7 years to recover from it.. Dont know what happens this time.

Anyhow UPA is spending tax payers money to buy votes for the upcomming state and central elections.

Cheers
